Day 224; A perfect day, can I bottle up this temperature?

Day 224 of 365; A perfect day, can I bottle up this temperature?

If only every days temperature was like today-I could handle this 365 days a year. Partial sun, partial clouds, with storm clouds off in the distance, a slight breeze.. butterflies flying around, birds chirping, ..and my kids happily playing (without bugs biting them!) outside…

I soaked all of that up while laying on my outdoor blanket… no shoes, my bare feet hanging off the edge of the blanket feeling the slightly sharp but yet soft blades of green grass….

I wish I could bottle up days like this.. and open up the bottle around mid-January ! ! ! ! !

Day 219; A little sip of mocha helps the work get done

Day 219 of 365; A little sip of mocha helps the work get done

Today is a day of GETTING THINGS DONE! Unfortunately I don’t have WI-FI access out in the great little country town of Rock Falls, (not a happy thing for a photographer!) so I am trying to buckle down and use Mondays as my days to head into town, find some Wi-Fi at my “office of choice” for the day and upload photos from the week to online galleries, facebook, and the blog etc.

I haven’t bought a mocha from anywhere since winter time, I had missed them at first, but then replaced them with just plain coffee…and Dr Pepper (oh how I love Dr Pepper!) & today I gave in, at Panera Bread and bought a small mocha… oh yum, my taste-buds did a little dance, and it brought back warm memories from the last time(s) I had sipped mochas all last Winter, Fall, and Summer.

I will soon be updating my online galleries with many of my photos from my adventures to Colorado, and the east side of Wisconsin/Lake Michigan area. All of my photos are always for sale on my Gallery site, and I offer a big variety of images and products, from cars to flowers to barns, to regular prints to large canvas prints, go take a look!!!

I will also be updating my business facebook page as well with many images from my Summer adventures, and often have sales and give-a-ways only valid to my Facebook Fans and Followers! So make sure to visit and click “like” !

And…..now back to sipping my mocha and working on wedding photos from the last outdoor wedding!!!

Have a beautiful Monday everyone- and don’t forget to look up take time to enjoy the BEAUTIFUL clouds in the Chippewa Valley today! 🙂

Day 156; Fresh air does the soul GOOD!

Day 156 of 365;Day 156; Fresh air does the soul GOOD!

4 hours of sleep.. no coffee. I was So tired, so exhausted this morning that I wanted to pull my hair out!

BUT I am a believer that life is ALL about your attitude. So I packed up the kids in my car and headed into Eau Claire to gather food for a picnic. We stopped at the grocery store and bought food from the deli- sandwiches, blueberries, salad, and puppy chow.

We then headed out to Tower Ridge Recreation Area , and had a picnic on the edge of the hill overlooking the beautiful valley of trees, and in the shade. It was a HOT day, but in the shade it was ok!

We laid on the picnic blanket looking up at the sky – what a glorious day God had given us, even though I was tired, God still allowed me time with my kids in the outdoors and once I was out there- my sleepiness completely vanished.

I took the opportunity to take a few photographs of my daughter Camryn in her new dress & her white wicker chair near some beautiful purple wild-flowers. (I will post those tomorrow, but for now here is 1 quick sneak-peek: Photo Dress made by “Butterfly Baby Place” )

We explored a little and then headed home… remember fresh air will do your soul wonders!

Day 21; Roads

Day 21 of 365; Roads

“I drive a lot. Just for pleasure. Sometimes I’ll get in the Cadillac and drive around the city or the country, kind of trying to get lost basically. Y’know, just see where roads lead.” ~Frank Black

I just LOVE driving. When I bought my first car back in 2003, ..it HAD low miles on it, but I just couldn’t resist driving it around every country road ..I had every back road in Menomonie memorized at that time.

Something about driving, about roads.. just calls my name. I always have to allow extra time to get anywhere I go, because I tend to wander off the main road if I see another road that looks interesting, a lake, a river, a trail… my poor son sometimes (or again.. maybe my lucky? son) when he goes on drives with me to get to one destination, I usually stop at 3 + places along the way, not just to take photos , but sometimes just to see where the road goes, or what’s around the next corner, or to just sit and enjoy the view.

I feel SO thankful I was given another opportunity to explore this weekend… I have my two kids along, and a 3 hour drive took us about 5 hours, because we stopped at several parks along the way, and of course stopped at McDonalds to keep them happy little Jeep riders.

I love winding roads,… you know the ones where you can’t see what’s coming next? I just LOVE those….

Maybe I have chosen the wrong career as a photographer and should become a truck driver, so I can drive all the time? 😉 Okay okay… maybe not, but maybe I should expand my advertising area for photography so I can do some traveling + photography at the same time.

I don’t need to travel far to be happy, I am simply content with driving on roads nearby , roads around Wisconsin + Minnesota…. but lately I feel a strong pull to travel ALL of Route 66 From start to end, .. Illinois –> California .. I can’t even imagine how amazing those roads are on that Route. I hear that it takes 4 days from start to end.. so I would give myself at least 2 weeks to travel it there + back…. Anyone game to come with? 🙂 If so, you better be ready to venture off the main roads, explore some abandoned towns, and have NO plans along the way… because I will be stopping often and randomly 🙂

This year I have made myself a promise that I am going to explore more roads, new roads ,… I suggest you try it too! You can still head to work.. but just take a new route, allow yourself an extra 20 minutes, grab a coffee on the way… and take your time, & breathe it all in.

Besides all of the photos I took with my iphone today, I also took a lot of Sign + Road photos with my regular DSLR Camera, and those will be up on my Photo Galleries next week sometime.

So……. here are some photos from my Road Travels today…….. hope you enjoy (remember these are taken on an iphone!)

Day 11; A Son’s Love

Day 11 of 365; A Son’s Love

“boy (boi) n.- a male child, lad, youth, not yet a man, often a magnet to dirt, toys, and adventure.”

I was blessed with the discovery that I was pregnant to a little boy almost seven years ago,… that same little boy has now grown into my adventure buddy, my run around the yard like silly-heads buddy, and my compassionate, loving, & caring Son.

Often times it’s hard for us to go places as a whole family, our little 2 year old isn’t quite ready for hikes in the woods in the dead middle of winter, or many of the adventures that I enjoy. But my 6 (amost 7) year old son has grown into my greatest adventure buddy, he will go anywhere with me, I say “Let’s go on an adventure” and before I finish explaining where we are going, he has already ran to the door and started putting his shoes (or in today’s case..boots) on. He never complains, and keeps his eyes wide open like me, noticing things up, over, under and all around him.

Tonight I needed to head out to Big Falls County Park to check the snow/river conditions for an upcoming engagement photo session. So I packed up my winter gear and my son into my Jeep and we headed out there JUST as the sun had set, there was still enough light to make our way down the snowy filled trail ,..the snow was well past our ankles, but we followed some snow-shoe tracks in, to get to the river/falls. I saw what I needed to see, and by this time dusk had completely set in, so we turned on our flashlight and lit the trail to find our way back to the Jeep, taking our time along the way to keep our minds off the dark & unknown woods by making shadow puppets on the glimmering snow with the flashlight and our hands.

As I was shining the flashlight down onto the snow at our boots, he said “HEY ! I never knew that snow sparkled!!!” All I could do was smile, these are the things children need to learn-this is the place children need to learn things , is in the great outdoors, ….real learning adventures. Do you realize how much a child could really learn in just one day in the outdoors? The learning/teaching opportunities outside are just..endless!

After we jumped back in the Jeep we headed back into Eau Claire for a delicious sandwich and warm drink at Panera Bread and warmed up by the fireplace, then finished off the evening reading books at Borders.

If you have a son, or daughter… take time to embrace the outdoors with them, even in the cold winter months .. if you dress for winter and bundle up, winter really isn’t all that bad, plus it gives you another great opportunity to take your son/daughter somewhere for a warm cup of hot chocolate after your adventure together and talk about the silly things you did , and what you encountered while you were out exploring.

I am already looking forward to the next adventure with my son. What adventure will you plan next for you and your child(ren)?

Some more fun quotes for the day;

“Mothers of Boys work from Son up until Son down.”

“Boy; A noise with dirt on it.”
