Day 156; Fresh air does the soul GOOD!

Day 156 of 365;Day 156; Fresh air does the soul GOOD!

4 hours of sleep.. no coffee. I was So tired, so exhausted this morning that I wanted to pull my hair out!

BUT I am a believer that life is ALL about your attitude. So I packed up the kids in my car and headed into Eau Claire to gather food for a picnic. We stopped at the grocery store and bought food from the deli- sandwiches, blueberries, salad, and puppy chow.

We then headed out to Tower Ridge Recreation Area , and had a picnic on the edge of the hill overlooking the beautiful valley of trees, and in the shade. It was a HOT day, but in the shade it was ok!

We laid on the picnic blanket looking up at the sky – what a glorious day God had given us, even though I was tired, God still allowed me time with my kids in the outdoors and once I was out there- my sleepiness completely vanished.

..Looking up while laying down... kind of a day...

I took the opportunity to take a few photographs of my daughter Camryn in her new dress & her white wicker chair near some beautiful purple wild-flowers. (I will post those tomorrow, but for now here is 1 quick sneak-peek: Photo Dress made by “Butterfly Baby Place” )

We explored a little and then headed home… remember fresh air will do your soul wonders!

The result of a few hours in the outdoors & fresh air...!

Day 155; A new collection //Heart shaped rocks

Day 155 of 365; A new collection //Heart shaped rocks

A new collection of heart shaped rocks.. photo taken with my iphone.

Do you have collections? Or did you ever collect anything as a child? When I was little I didn’t really have a specific collection, but I did gather patches from when we went on vacations as a family, from park rangers, fire fighters, random places, random things etc. I still have them today (I havent kept much from my childhood, as I am working on minimizing) I am not sure if I will keep them forever, or do anything with them-maybe I’ll give them to my kids to have -or play with.

Back in November I had a girls weekend with my mom & sister up in Duluth, Minnesota. One of the days (a very WINDY day!) We headed north of Duluth to Tettegouchi State Park. It is by far one of THE most beautiful parks I have been too. We hiked along the cliffs, and as I walked out onto one cliff, It was SO beautiful-the sunset, Lake Superior, the clouds,..everything–and I just felt the need to LAY DOWN, among the rocks, dirt, everything.. and take it all in, so I laid down on my back and my sister did the same beside me.

We then walked down by the beach which was not a sandy beach, but a rocky beach,..full of little rocks of all shapes and sizes, my mother was in heaven-she LOVES loves loves rocks-and of course that is where my love for rocks comes from as well. I found a LITTLE heart shaped rock. I was SO excited. It made my heart smile. It reminded me of the love that God has for us, his love is everywhere we look-in every rock he has made. So I showed my mom, and I said “I should start collecting these!” Not thinking I’d ever find any more, 5 minutes later my mom said “I found one!!” So for the past 7 months I have been finding heart shaped rocks everywhere I go, and I have started a little collection..

Day 154; The calm of the color purple…

Day 153; The calm of the color purple…

I do not recall this, but my older sister has reminded me of it a few times. When I was really little, my big sister told me that I couldn’t like the color pink because it was her favorite… so I had no choice but to pick another color- so I chose the color purple. {This makes me chuckle, just a little bit}

Now I love every color, and appreciate that us humans can see ANY color at all. But the color purple, has such a calming effect. Many of my perennial flowers are now blooming out in my garden, and I just love looking at them. This morning after watering my flowers, I noticed how beautiful the Iris’ looked with the water drops on them.

I normally would have grabbed my big SLR Camera, but this time I thought I would try to take a nice “macro” style photo using just my iphone. I edited the photo using the Instagram App {LOVE Instagram, if you use it on your iphone make sure to find me on there; kel_marie }.

…{now tell me, does the color purple calm you?!}

To see a fresh image of an Iris in full beautiful bloom that I took this morning WITH my SLR camera, just visit here.

Day 37; This is the way to take a walk

Day 37 of 365; This is the way to take a walk

“God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.” ~Martin Luther

This is THE way to take a walk. With your chlidren. 🙂

The first photo above was taken with my iphone & edited using the Instigram App. The rest of the photos below, were taken using my Nikon SLR D40 Camera with the Nikkor 18-200mm Lens . {Photos with me in them were taken by my 6 year old son, Rayce 🙂 }

Sunday morning I woke up early and snuck in the shower BEFORE the kids were awake- this is a very rare occurance, my showers usually consist of kids pounding on the bathroom door or crying “Mommmy!!!” the entire time I am showering. So this shower was a luxury and started off my Sunday just right!

I decided to pack the kids up and go on an adventure, ..I had no plans of taking photos, no plans even where we were going to!!! But they didn’t ask questions, didn’t complain, just got their boots, hats, and jackets on and jumped in the Jeep and said “Ready mom!”

This is ONE of the many reasons I adore my children, I am starting to see such adventurous, go with the flow attitudes and beautiful hearts in both of them as they grow.

We ended up at a park in Chippewa Falls and stopped to see some geese that were honking obnoxiously loud -but the kids LOVED them- of course! 🙂

Then as we got out of the Jeep to see the geese, we decided to take a little walk and ended up on a closed road within the park ..and had a wonderful time.

My two year old daughter Camryn is turning into quite the little mini-me. She notices the smallest, yet most beautiful things most of us would overlook. She noticed some deer tracks near the water that was trickling down the cliff and a beautiful hawk that landed in the trees above us.

I needed this walk. I keep getting sucked into the slump of the winter blues..and this pulled me out , just in time! (whew!)

I just love my children to pieces and cherish every time they come on an adventure with me.

I think YOU should take time to get your children outdoors , you don’t have to have a perfect set of plans- just go, and enjoy your kids and the world God created for us to explore- because that is the perfect way to take a walk!

More of my photos from other adventures can be seen on my Gallery site.

Quotes for Today;

I believe that there is a subtle magnetism in Nature, which, if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us aright. ~Henry David Thoreau

Look at the trees, look at the birds, look at the clouds, look at the stars… and if you have eyes you will be able to see that the whole existence is joyful. Everything is simply happy. Trees are happy for no reason; they are not going to become prime ministers or presidents and they are not going to become rich and they will never have any bank balance. Look at the flowers – for no reason. It is simply unbelievable how happy flowers are. ~Osho
