Day 19 of 265; Live For Today
“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength.”~ Corrie Ten Boom
Do you live for today? Or do you often find yourself regretting your past, wishing you could turn back time,.. or constantly worry about the future?
We often do find ourselves in those situations, either trying to relive and reclaim the past today, or worrying about the future and what it holds.. but what if we live for today-in between the past and our future?
I believe that in between the two is a perfect resting space for us, a place of peace and happiness.
Worrying about tomorrow ,… what does it do, who does it help, what does it accomplish and gain for your life? Absolutely nothing, it is only emptying you of the joy you hold inside of you today. The future is not ours to worry about- it belongs to God.
Trying to relive your past,…. what does it do? Again, it does nothing to benefit you, you can’t turn back time, you are here now, here today.. reliving your past and living with regrets and ‘what-if’s’ is only holding you hostage, holding you still , tied down.. so you can’t enjoy your day,…today.
Today holds more possibilities than many people will most likely ever realize. What if we woke up every single day and said “I am going to live for today..and today only. I will NOT try to relive my past, I will NOT worry about tomorrow… Today is only Today and I will live for it only.” Each day holds so much power, so much sunshine if we just live for it, and just live only one day at a time.
So stop worrying, stop reliving your past.. by doing that daily-you are casting a cloud over your day today-you are blocking the sunshine & rainbows that should be shining down on you.
Today is here now. Yesterday is gone. The future is not here yet. So LIVE FOR TODAY!
I found a lot of quotes for today.. take some time to read them over… 🙂 ;
“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon – instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today. ” ~Dale Carnegie
“Pile up too many tomorrows and you’ll find that you’ve collected nothing but a bunch of empty yesterdays.” ~The Music Man
“We steal if we touch tomorrow. It is God’s.” ~Henry Ward Beecher
“God made the world round so we would never be able to see too far down the road.” ~Isak Dinesen
“Worry not about the possible troubles of the future; for if they come, you are but anticipating and adding to their weight; and if they do not come, your worry is useless; and in either case it is weak and in vain, and a distrust of God’s providence.” ~ Hugh Blair
“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” ~ Albert Einstein
“Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.”~Benjamin Franklin
“With the past, I have nothing to do; nor with the future. I live now.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
“One problem with gazing too frequently into the past is that we may turn around to find the future has run out on us.” ~Michael Cibenko
“Don’t let the past steal your present.” ~Terri Guillemets
“There is no distance on this earth as far away as yesterday.” ~Robert Nathan, So Love Returns
“You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present.” ~Jan Glidewell
“Would you keep a chive on your tooth just because you enjoyed last night’s potato?” ~From the television show Boston Common
“We seem to be going through a period of nostalgia, and everyone seems to think yesterday was better than today. I don’t think it was, and I would advise you not to wait ten years before admitting today was great. If you’re hung up on nostalgia, pretend today is yesterday and just go out and have one hell of a time.” ~Art Buchwald
“It is only possible to live happily-ever-after on a day-to-day basis.” ~Margaret Bonnano
“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.” ~Babatunde Olatunji
